This particular batch is not dry at all (as they are sometimes), rather they are shorter beans than the A grade we sell and slightly less moist.
Extract grade pods are essentially a lower grade of vanilla pods and are primarily used where size and appearance is not a concern. They include undersize, split and broken pods which can have a moisture content variation from around 25% to being dry and brittle with a moisture content of less than 15%. As the vanilla becomes drier the intensity of the aroma is reduced however this does not mean that the vanilla has any less flavour than higher moisture content grades.
Extract grade vanilla is the best value as the lower moisture means you are not paying for the weight of the water content.
This is enough beans to turn around 500ml of Vodka into vanilla extract.
